Man charged after drink driving... |

Good afternoon Resident,
A 20-year-old man was arrested on Saturday 10 October 2026 following a report of a road traffic collision on the A518 near Church Aston, Shropshire.
Officers attended the incident and suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and taken into custody, where subsequent tests established that he was over the legal alcohol limit for driving.
He was interviewed and has since been charged with driving a motor vehicle with alcohol level above the prescribed limit. He has been bailed to appear at court later this month.
This incident provides an important reminder that the risks associated with drink driving far outweigh any temptation to consume alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
Alcohol significantly impairs judgement, reaction times and decision-making, increasing the likelihood of a collision. Incidents involving alcohol can have devastating consequences, resulting in serious injury or loss of life.
It is also important to remember that alcohol affects people differently, and even if you feel capable of driving, you may still be over the legal limit.
If you're driving, the safest choice is not to drink any alcohol at all. Stick to 0% alcohol and stay 100% safe.
If you have information about a possible drink driver, you can report this to us on our non-emergency number, 101, or our online reporting tool at www.westmercia.police.uk. You can also report anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
If you belive that someone is driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs, please report to us on 999.
Kind regards, PC Rich Edward Newport Safer Neighbourhood Team
