Keyless Theft Of Vehicle - THE RIDINGS 10th Oct

We would like to bring to your attention the theft of a Volvo XC90 (V15 TMS) from The Ridings, Surbiton, at around 4:00am on 10 October.

The circumstances are consistent with methods used by criminals targeting vehicles, commonly known as keyless theft or relay theft, where offenders use electronic devices to capture or amplify the signal from a vehicle key fob and gain access to the vehicle.

There several measures we would recommend to help reduce the risk of keyless vehicle theft

Store key fobs in a Faraday pouch or signal-blocking container when not in use. These help prevent criminals capturing the signal from your keys.

Keep vehicle keys well away from doors, windows and letterboxes.

If available, disable your keyless entry function when the vehicle is parked. Check your vehicle handbook or speak with your dealer.

Consider additional physical security such as a steering wheel lock. Visible security measures can make your vehicle a less attractive target.

Consider a vehicle tracking device to increase the chances of recovery if your vehicle is stolen.
