🎃 Halloween and Bonfire Night Safety AdviceAs Halloween and Bonfire Night approach, we would like to remind everyone to celebrate safely and considerately. 🎃 Halloween Safety Tips- Children should always be accompanied by a responsible adult where possible.
- Carry a torch and wear bright or reflective clothing so you can be easily seen by drivers.
- Only visit homes that appear welcoming to trick-or-treaters and respect properties displaying signs such as "No Trick or Treaters".
- Stay in well-lit areas and avoid entering strangers' homes.
- Parents should check sweets and treats before children consume them.
- Be respectful of neighbours and avoid causing damage, nuisance or anti-social behaviour.
🎆 Bonfire and Firework Safety- Attend organised public firework displays whenever possible. These are generally safer and professionally managed.
- If using fireworks at home, only buy them from reputable retailers and ensure they carry the CE or UKCA mark.
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.
- Keep fireworks away from children and never return to a lit firework.
- Light fireworks at arm's length using a taper and stand well back.
- Keep pets indoors where possible and provide a safe, quiet space for them during firework displays.
- Have a bucket of water or a hose nearby in case of emergencies.
🚗 Road Safety- Drivers should be extra vigilant for children crossing roads, particularly during the evenings around Halloween.
- Pedestrians should avoid distractions such as mobile phones while crossing roads.
- Wear reflective clothing when walking in the dark.
👮 Community Respect- Please be considerate of your neighbours, particularly elderly residents, young children and pet owners.
- Report anti-social behaviour, criminal damage or dangerous activity to the police.
