Dear Resident,
Here's a roundup of what your local Neighbourhood Team have been up to in Binley and Willenhall recently.
Shoplifting On the runup to the festive period, our team have been hard at work identifying and arresting shoplifters in the local area. Several prominent shoplifters have been arrested and charged for over two dozen shoplifting offences, with several receiving custodial sentences. We're going to be continuing to target shoplifters in the next few weeks, and have been working closely with some local stores to streamline their reporting process and ensure we can identify and arrest offenders in a short time period to reduce the opportunities they have to offend.
Advice for Longer Nights As the nights get longer and the weather starts to cool, we wanted to provide some pre-emptive advice. Every year as the cold weather hits it provides opportunities for criminals to steal cars, vans and keys. Keep in mind that thieves are looking for unattended vehicles with keys in the ignition or unlocked with bags that are easy to grab. It takes seconds to steal from a vehicle but there are things you can do to prevent this: · Stay with your vehicle while its unlocked · Keep your keys and valuables close · Warn your neighbours not to leave their vehicles unattended · If the weather starts to frost, buy de-icer or a windscreen scraper to help your vehicle defrost quicker
Owner of keyless vehicle are reminded to put the car key fob in a faraday device. Keyless entry and start systems are can make your car extremely vulnerable, especially as technology is becoming increasingly more intelligent. However, a faraday bag or pouch can help keep your car safe if you have keyless entry.
Community Engagement On Thursday one of our PSCO's and PC's attended Ernesford Grange Primary School to provide an input for the students there. It was good to meet so many young faces and we answered lots of interesting questions about what its like to work for the police.
We had our regular Cuppa with a Copper event at Willenhall Library on Friday where we spoke to several members of the community. We're aware of ongoing anti-social behaviour that has been occurring there and are going to be working with the library to do what we can to combat this.
Next month, we'll be hosting our Cuppa with a Copper at the John White Centre on Friday 6th at midday. We've moved for November ensure that residents who live in Binley have equal opportunity to come and make their concerns known to police. We'll be moving back to Willenhall in December and then look to alternate venues each month.
