Last night, neighbourhood officers were patrolling the Kennington area following attendance at the local Parish Council meeting when they were called to reports of an incident nearby.
Upon arrival, officers encountered an intoxicated male who was behaving aggressively. Due to his actions, officers were required to deploy Captor incapacitant spray, which struck the male in the face and had the desired effect. This enabled officers to safely restrain and arrest him. No injuries were sustained by either the male or the attending officers.
The male has since been charged and is due to appear before court in relation to offences of Drunk and Disorderly Behaviour and Criminal Damage.
If residents heard any disturbance in the Northumberland Road or Rylands Road area last night, this is likely to have been the incident that officers attended and dealt with.
