Operation Fearless: Man charged after hundreds of wraps of drugs recovered

Dear Resident,

A man's due in court after Operation Fearless officers seized hundreds of wraps of Class A drugs in Handsworth.

Ramiaz Afzal is charged with possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine, as well as two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.

The 30-year-old, from Birmingham, is due before the city's Magistrates Court today (5 October).

It's after Fearless officers on proactive patrols stopped a car near Soho Road on Saturday (3 October), seizing more than 300 wraps of suspected Class A drugs.

Further searches of an address led to the discovery of cash, and two knuckle dusters.

Operation Fearless officers are continuing to be visible on the Soho Road and Handsworth Triangle as they act on local concerns about drug crime.

The team made another arrest on Saturday after interrupting a suspected drug deal in progress on Holliday Road.

Drug crime, as well as violence, anti-social behaviour, and the illicit sale of goods from shops are all being targeted by the team.
