A man has been ordered to pay compensation via instalment deductions from his benefits for four counts of shop theft in Spalding. Officers continue to take reports of shop theft seriously in South Holland, and across the county. Neighbourhood Policing Team officers finally caught up with a man wanted on warrant since May in connection with four shop theft offences. Dimitrijs Dzjuba, 40, of Pennygate, Spalding, appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 7 October where he pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from Sainsburys, Holland Market, Spalding where: he stole three boxes of Cognac to the value of £135 on 17 May 2026 he stole two bottles of Desaronno, to the value of £38 on 18 May 2026 And two counts of theft from Coop, Clover Way, Spalding where: he stole three bottles of alcohol, to the value of £89 on 19 January 2026 he stole three cans of alcohol, to the value of £4.01 on 1 March 2026 Dzjuba was spotted by officers on Tuesday 6 October and after a brief foot chase was finally arrested. You can watch the video of his arrest via the press release on our website here. Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Callum Corder said: “Every incident of shop theft has a victim. Local businesses lose valuable income, staff can be left feeling intimidated or unsafe, and the cumulative impact can be felt across the community. Retailers are at the heart of our town centres, and they deserve to operate without being targeted by criminals. We are committed to tackling shop theft, pursuing those responsible and working alongside businesses to ensure Spalding remains a safe and welcoming place to live, work and visit. “We urge members of the public to keep reporting concerns and suspicious activity. Reporting helps us identify emerging issues, build intelligence, and target our resources where they can have the greatest impact.” Lincolnshire Police are not responsible for sentencing. Policing is part of a broader criminal justice system, and its role is to protect the public, enforce the law, investigate crimes, gather evidence, arrest and detain suspected offenders. Police forces help build case files for court and may be involved in the court process, but do not lead on the sentences convicted offenders receive.
