A consultation on Slough’s Economic Growth Strategy 2026–2040 and action plan has launched. Residents, businesses, and stakeholders are all encouraged to read the draft strategy and share their views to help inform and shape the final strategy. The strategy’s aims are that economic growth benefits everyone, creating opportunities for residents, businesses, and communities, setting a clear vision for 2050. The vision is that by 2050, Slough will be a connected, caring, inclusive and sustainable town where current and future residents can access opportunity, prosper and live healthier lives. The strategy’s aims are also for every neighbourhood to share in the benefits from growth, helping to reduce inequality and eliminate barriers. Councillor Wal Chahal, leader of the council and lead member for improvement, transformation, strategic planning and governance, said: “We are already proud of Slough and the businesses which have chosen to set up here. We want our economy to build on these strengths to create more good jobs, clearer and more visible skills and progression pathways for young people, and greater opportunities for local businesses and residents. “For Slough to fully benefit from economic growth, there needs to be investment, innovation and regeneration. We want even more people to choose to live, work and build their future here. This strategy lays out how employers will play a strengthened role in creating local opportunities.” The strategy was developed with the guiding principle of “getting a better deal for the people of Slough.” By sharing your views, you can help ensure the key themes reflect the needs and aspirations of all and help build a fair, inclusive, and sustainable economy that leaves no one behind. The consultation is open from today (7 October) to 3 November. It should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. Share your comments via the online survey.
