TIPS TO HELP PREVENT VEHICLE CRIME |

|
Good afternoon,
Following a recent increase in vehicle crime, we are encouraging residents to take a few simple steps to help protect their vehicles from theft and break-ins.
Vehicle criminals often target cars that are left insecure or contain visible valuables. Please help reduce your risk by following these crime prevention tips:
✅ Always lock your vehicle, even if you're only leaving it for a short time. ✅ Remove all valuables from view, including handbags, wallets, laptops, mobile phones and sat navs. ✅ Never leave keys inside your vehicle or near doors and windows where they could be stolen. ✅ If you have keyless entry, store your keys in a signal-blocking pouch or Faraday bag when not in use. ✅ Park in well-lit areas where possible and consider using CCTV or additional security devices such as steering wheel locks. ✅ Check your vehicle is locked before walking away. Criminals can use signal-jamming devices to prevent vehicles from locking. ✅ Do not leave documents containing your home address inside your vehicle.
If you see anyone acting suspiciously around parked vehicles, please report it to us via 101 or online. In an emergency, or if a crime is in progress, always call 999.
Together we can help keep our communities safe and prevent vehicle crime.
