Be Safe Be Seen!!! |

As the evenings get darker and the weather conditions become more challenging, West Mercia Police is encouraging everyone using bicycles, e-bikes and scooters to make sure they are clearly visible when travelling on our roads, cycle paths and pavements. Reduced daylight, rain, fog and poor weather conditions can make it much harder for motorists to see cyclists and scooter riders, particularly during busy commuting times. Taking simple steps to improve your visibility can significantly reduce the risk of being involved in a collision. Stay safe by: 🚲 Wearing bright or fluorescent clothing during the day and reflective clothing in low light or darkness. 💡 Ensuring your cycle or scooter is fitted with working front and rear lights when required. 🔦 Adding reflective strips, reflectors or high-visibility accessories to your clothing, helmet, bag or vehicle. 👀 Making eye contact with drivers whenever possible, particularly at junctions and crossings. 🌧 Allowing extra stopping distances in wet or icy conditions and taking extra care on leaves, mud and slippery surfaces. 📱 Avoiding distractions such as mobile phones or headphones that may affect your awareness of your surroundings. Parents are also encouraged to check that children travelling to and from school on bikes or scooters have appropriate lighting and high-visibility clothing, especially as darker mornings and evenings become more common. A few simple precautions can make a huge difference. Let's work together to ensure everyone gets home safely this autumn and winter. Be bright. Be visible. Be safe. | ||
