Motorcycle and scooter owners! |

Dear Resident,
We know at this time of the year we often see a rise in motorcycle theft across the West Midlands. To help keep motorbikes, and mopeds out of the hands of thieves, we're asking anyone who owns a motorcycle to be part of our distribution list on WMNow.
Currently, you receive neighbourhood and local policing updates from us. You can receive bespoke crime prevention advice by updating your preferences and interest groups on WMNow.
Being part of this 'motorcycle' distribution list on WMNow will provide you with bespoke police crime prevention advice around how to keep your motorbike safe from criminals. We will also update you on police-action taken to bring offenders to justice. We have secured a new discount code with Hiplock, a police-accredited organisation, to offer discounts to motorbike owners in the region. This will be sent out on the distribution list.
To become part of the 'Motorbike and quad bike' distribution list, please log into your WMNow account. It will send you an email for single sign-on and you'll be taken to your profile. On your profile you can update your details, preferences, and alert locations. Head to the 'Interest Groups' section and scroll down to 'Motorbikes and quad bikes' section and select this option.
Be sure to save your preferences at the bottom of your profile.
If you do not own a motorbike, you can still join a variety of different distribution lists by updating your preferences and 'interest groups' on your WMNow profile.
In the meantime, here are some key top tips to keep your motorbike safe during the darker nights:
Lock - Use a disc lock to help secure the front brake disc, or a grip lock to secure the brake and throttle controls. You could also use a D lock on the front wheel to stop it being wheeled away. Chain - Thieves often steal a bike by breaking the steering lock and wheeling it away. Use a chain lock through the back wheel (the front wheel can be removed). Secure your bike, with the lock taut to an immovable object such as a ground anchor or street furniture. This will stop thieves from cutting a lock trailing on the ground using an angle grinder. If this isn’t possible, thread the chain through your bike frame and back wheel. Cover - Thieves often ‘shop’ for particular bike models. Using a cover instantly makes it less attractive to them. A cover also provides another time-consuming obstacle for the thief. For security products for your scooter, motorcycle or moped search the ‘Accredited products’ page on Secured by Design (a police-approved website).
Please action and share with other motorcycle owners using the share button below.
If you need support with this, please reply below and we will assist you.
