✅ How to protect yourself

Never leave bank cards, handbags or wallets in your vehicle – even for a short time

Remove all valuables or keep them completely out of sight

Always lock your vehicle, even when parked outside your home

Check your vehicle before leaving it to ensure nothing is left behind

Enable banking alerts to notify you instantly of transactions

Consider setting lower contactless limits via your bank where possible

🛑 If you’re a victim

Report your card missing immediately to your bank

Check your transactions and report any unauthorised use

Report the incident to the police via 101 or online

🔍 Reminder

Opportunist thieves often target vehicles at night looking for easy access. A moment’s oversight can give them the chance they need.
