Let's be honest.
Most people in Trafford are fed up with seeing riders tearing through parks, pavements and roads on illegally used e-bikes, often at speed, often with little regard for anyone else's safety.
A small number of individuals are causing a big problem, and we are determined to identify them, seize their bikes and take positive action.
🚔 But here is the challenge.
We often know what is happening.
What we need is the information that tells us who is responsible and, crucially, where these bikes are being stored when they are not causing misery in our communities.
That is where you come in.
Every report helps us build the intelligence picture. The rider you see today may be the same rider reported by three other residents tomorrow. The location you provide could be the information that leads officers directly to the bike.
🔍 What to tell us:
✅ Exact location ✅ Date and time ✅ Description of the bike (especially Sur-Ron style bikes) ✅ Description of the rider and clothing ✅ Direction of travel ✅ Where the bike is regularly seen or stored
📞 How to report:
🌐 Online via the GMP website 📞 101 for non-emergencies 🚨 999 if there is an immediate risk to public safety or a crime is in progress ☎️ Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
🚨 A message to those riding illegally:
You may think you are anonymous. You may think nobody knows who you are. You may think you will get away with it. But every report we receive helps us build the picture, identify those involved and locate the bikes. Eventually, the dots join up. And when they do, we will be knocking on your door, not chasing you down the street.
Help us make Trafford's streets, parks and public spaces safer for everyone.
The information we need may be sitting with you right now.
Thank you, Inspector Matthew Harvey - Trafford Neighbourhood Team
