NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING AND PREVENTION UPDATE.

Monthly Community Update from Sgt 256 Tom GRACE

Hello everyone,

I hope this message finds you well. As we move through into October, I wanted to share a quick round-up of what’s been happening across our local area, what’s coming up, and how we’re working together to keep our community safe and thriving.

🔍 Local Priorities

Our current focus areas include:

ASB – Anti-social behaviour hotspots around North Dock, Town Centre and Penyfan. You can contact us directly on DPP Connects with concern of heightened ASB in other areas

Road Safety – Speeding concerns raised in several areas of Llanelli Town. Please advise of other areas and we will conduct patrols and speed awareness activity

Illegal use of E-Scooters & E-Bikes – This continues to be a real concern for those that chose to ride such vehicles and the risk they present to the public. Llanelli Town NPPT continue to progress Youth engagement and diversion activities, with further Days of Action planned to target the illegal use of these vehicles on public roads and public areas

We’re continuing patrols and targeted operations in these areas, and welcome any feedback or concerns you’d like to raise.

🤝 Partnership Working

With the increase of “Urban Explorer” incidents Llanelli Town experienced in September, Llanelli NPPT worked closely with partner agencies and private individuals in ensuring identified premises were secure and ongoing work implemented to ensure repeat incidents were reduced

Ongoing collaborations are helping us respond more effectively and holistically to community needs

🎉 Upcoming Events

Llanelli Food and Drink Festival - Saturday 17th October 9am to 5pm – Llanelli Town Centre

We’d love to see you there - events are a great way to connect and share ideas.

Llanelli Town NPPT ran a joint agency operation on Thursday 1st October - Operation Alliance

This was in terms of policing car crime and links to organised crime

Many local garages were visited and engagement events attended to share crime prevention advice

Carmarthenshire Environmental Enforcement Team and Colleagues from National Resources Wales accompanied NPPT in conducting joint patrols and road checks in line with Road Traffic Act 1988

Llanelli Town NPPT have further operations in place for October, and these will be reported on at the end of the month

October sees the annual “Operation Bang” of which involves increased policing patrols with Halloween and Bonfire Night on the horizon

The current Llanelli Town Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) is currently under review and open for public consultation. We propose to extend the current order beyond January '27, and with additional powers of dispersal

The current PSPO has been an excellent tool in policing Alcohol and Drug fuelled ASB in our public areas, and we will continue in using it to deter poor behaviour and taking necessary police action

We are also presenting a further application to introduce a new PSPO for the North Dock area of Llanelli. This is to focus on ASB caused by vehicles. This is just one of several tools we are proposing to introduce to tackle the ongoing ASB concern in this area

🤝🏼 Thank you for working with us to keep Llanelli safe and informed. See you out and about!
