Hello Resident, Neighbourhood Policing Officers joined colleagues from the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) for a successful day of action as part of Operation Waxen, focusing on nuisance vehicles, dangerous driving and improving road safety across Ashford. A combined team of 14 officers carried out proactive patrols and enforcement activity throughout the day, targeting known hotspot locations and addressing concerns raised by local residents. Early in the operation, officers identified an illegally modified off-road electric bike being ridden in a public area. The rider failed to stop and made off from officers; however, the vehicle was successfully recovered and removed from the road. Further enquiries are ongoing.
Throughout the day, officers took robust enforcement action, including issuing Traffic Offence Reports for offences such as driving without insurance, failing to comply with traffic signals and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. Several vehicles, including cars and e-scooters being used unlawfully, were also seized.
High-visibility patrols were carried out in a number of key locations across Ashford, including: Adams Drive / Rayworth Court Stanhope Ring Road Hothfield Bridgefield
Officers spent time engaging with residents and addressing community concerns. A number of members of the public commented positively on the increased police presence and welcomed the proactive work being undertaken.
Operations such as this demonstrate our continued commitment to tackling anti-social use of vehicles, improving road safety and responding to the issues that matter most to our communities. We will continue to work with specialist policing teams and partners to identify offenders, remove dangerous vehicles from our roads and keep Ashford's neighbourhoods safe.
If you have concerns about nuisance vehicles, dangerous driving or anti-social behaviour in your area, please continue to report information to Kent Police via the website or by calling 101. In an emergency, always call 999.
