Dear Resident

Beware of Rogue Traders and Distraction Burglary

We are reminding residents to remain vigilant against rogue traders and distraction burglars operating in local communities.

Rogue traders often knock on doors offering services such as roofing, driveway repairs, gardening, or gutter cleaning. They may claim work is urgently needed and pressure homeowners into making quick decisions or paying large sums of money.

Distraction burglars use a different tactic. They may pose as utility workers, council staff, charity collectors, or tradespeople to gain access to your home. Whilst one person distracts you, another may enter the property and steal valuables.

If you feel pressured, suspicious, or believe someone may be targeting your area, contact police on 101. If a crime is in progress or you feel threatened, call 999 immediately.
