Door Kick Challenge – It’s Not a Prank

We're aware of reports of the so-called 'Door Kick Challenge', where individuals kick or strike front doors before running away, often filming the incident for social media.

What may seem like a joke can cause fear and distress to residents, damage property, and lead to criminal or anti-social behaviour investigations.

Sadly, those targeted are often some of our more vulnerable residents, including older people and those living alone. This behaviour can leave victims feeling intimidated, anxious, and unsafe in their own homes.

The Safer Neighbourhood Team is taking reports of this behaviour seriously and will take robust action against those responsible. Depending on the circumstances and evidence available, this may include Anti-Social Behaviour warnings, Community Protection Warnings (CPWs), Community Protection Notices (CPNs), and where offences have been committed, criminal investigations and prosecution for offences such as criminal damage.

We are also working with local schools to ensure awareness of this issue. Information will be shared with schools so they can engage with parents and carers in affected areas and reinforce the message that this behaviour is unacceptable. Where appropriate and lawful, images of those involved may be shared with schools to assist in identifying those responsible and preventing further incidents.

If you witness this behaviour, have CCTV or doorbell footage, or have information about those involved, please report it. Early reporting helps us identify offenders, safeguard victims, and prevent further incidents.
