Behind the Scrutiny: How OPCC volunteers are helping to improve policing

We are pleased to launch our first ever combined OPCC Scrutiny Panels and Independent Custody Visiting (ICV) progress report.

This quarterly report brings together the findings, observations and recommendations from all our scrutiny panels and volunteer schemes into one easy-to-access format.

The report provides greater transparency about how independent volunteers help the Police and Crime Commissioner with his statutory duty of holding Humberside Police to account. They also look to review police practices, identify areas for improvement and help ensure community voices are heard.

Covering activity from June to August 2026, the report highlights key findings, positive developments, recurring themes and the actions being taken to improve services across our region.

It also showcases the invaluable contribution of local volunteers who dedicate their time to making Humberside Police more accountable, transparent and responsive to the communities it serves.
