Good Evening Residents, Before rumours start circulating, I thought it best to introduce myself.
I'm PC Matt Bond, and I've recently joined the wonderful wards of Ham, Petersham and Richmond Riverside. After spending the last twelve and a half years policing across West Area Borough, I've finally arrived here, armed with enthusiasm, experience, and absolutely no local sense of direction.
During my time in policing, I've worked in a variety of roles, including Emergency Response, Learning and Development, Investigations, and most recently Neighbourhood Policing. I've also been fortunate enough to police some incredible events, including the London Marathon, The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, the Champions League Final, and Notting Hill Carnival. So if you've ever wondered who voluntarily stands in the rain managing large crowds, I may very well be your man.
Away from work, my life revolves around my wife and children, who are kind enough to let me believe I'm in charge. When I'm not with them, you'll usually find me running unreasonable distances for enjoyment, or standing on the side of a football or rugby pitch. Depending on the day, I might be coaching, managing, refereeing, or questioning why I volunteered in the first place.
Contrary to popular belief, police officers do occasionally have personalities. We laugh, we drink too much coffee, we get lost, and we're sometimes as confused by road layouts as everyone else. In fact, there's a very good chance that before I help you with a local issue, I'll need your help finding the road it's on.
I am genuinely looking forward to getting to know the community, listening to your concerns, and working together to keep our neighbourhoods safe, welcoming and enjoyable places to live.
If you see me out and about, please do say hello. Friendly waves are always appreciated, directions even more so.
