Community Reassurance Message – Hanwell Broadway

Hanwell Broadway Safer Neighbourhood Team would like to reassure residents that a male has been charged with Affray, Threats to Kill and Threatening a Person with an Offensive Weapon following a serious incident in Hanwell on 26 September 2026.

The incident involved threats being made towards a member of the public, with allegations that the offences were motivated by hostility towards religion. Thanks to the swift actions of members of the public and responding officers, the suspect was quickly detained and a knife was recovered at the scene. Following a thorough investigation, the suspect was charged and subsequently remanded in custody.

The Metropolitan Police takes all reports of violence, hate crime and offences involving weapons extremely seriously. We understand incidents of this nature can cause concern within the community, particularly when they target individuals because of their faith or perceived background.

We hope this outcome provides reassurance that such behaviour will not be tolerated and that robust action will be taken against those who seek to intimidate, threaten or harm members of our community. Hanwell Broadway SNT remains committed to tackling violence, supporting victims and ensuring our neighbourhood remains a safe place for everyone.

The defendant has since been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Isleworth Crown Court. Bail was refused due to concerns regarding further offending, interference with witnesses and the seriousness of the alleged offences.
