Suspects disrupted in moped theft

Today, PCSO Sandhu and PC Vidamo were first on scene following reports of two males wearing balaclavas attempting to steal a moped in Chelsfield.

The suspects were seen running into Old Hill Common after being disturbed. A police dog unit was deployed to assist with the search; however, the suspects were subsequently lost in the area of Whitelands Wood.

A member of the public who witnessed the incident reported seeing the suspects remove their helmets before fleeing the area on foot.

Following a thorough search, PCSO Sandhu and PC Vidamo located two helmets believed to have been discarded by the suspects. These items have been recovered and may provide valuable forensic opportunities as part of the ongoing investigation.

In a further positive development, after searching the woodland area for over an hour, PCSO Sandhu and PC Vidamo successfully located a moped hidden in the woods.

This was an excellent result and demonstrates the value of a prompt response, effective searching, and information provided by members of the public. Enquiries remain ongoing to identify and locate the suspects.
