Nuisance and Illegal Bikes in your area

Dear Residents,

The results of our latest priority setting have highlighted nuisance bikes/vehicles a one of the primary concerns. This includes e-bikes, scooters, scramblers/off-road bikes and Sur-ron bikes.

Following a number of reports of Sur-Ron bikes being ridden illegally in the Snowley Parade and Thorley areas of Bishop's Stortford, we are appealing for information from the public.

We have received reports of Sur-Ron bikes being ridden in an anti-social manner across the local area. Some of the bikes involved are particularly distinctive, and we are keen to hear from anyone who has information about them or their riders.

The manner in which some of these bikes are being ridden is causing concern, as it poses a danger not only to the riders themselves but also to other members of the public. Their use could result in a serious collision and put pedestrians, cyclists and other road users at risk.If you have any information, sightings, photographs, video footage or information as to where the bikes are being kept, please contact us.

Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police.

February 2025 saw the publication of the Ministry of Justice Crime and Policing Bill: Antisocial behaviour (ASB) factsheet. This outlined a number of new measures including making powers to seize vehicles under section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 easier to use, allowing the police to react robustly and immediately to the anti-social use of motor vehicles.
