Today, on Friday 25th September 2026, a Live Facial Recognition (LFR) operation was completed on Sutton High Street.
These operations are made possible by the assistance of our colleagues from the LFR team; where a vehicle with facial recognition capabilities is deployed to an area, alongside specialist operators, who help us to identify persons who are wanted for serious or violent offences, and for potential breaches of court orders.
This deployment saw a large number of officers on the High Street, in order to manage those people who were identified.
As a direct result of the operation, the following persons were identified:
On top of the above results, we were able to secure some significant intelligence which has been passed to our intel teams, alongside 4x instances of shoplifting which were dealt with during the operation.
Live Facial Recognition is just one of the tactics we employ in order to make Sutton a safer place for everyone who lives, visits, and works here. We are committed to keeping Sutton as one of the safest boroughs in London - and operations like this help us to achieve that goal.
