We hope you are all keeping well. It has been a relatively quiet week in Beckton, with only a handful of incidents reported on our streets.

Criminal Damage & Anti-Social Behaviour

19/09/2026 – Bondfield Road: An incident of criminal damage was reported where a sticker is believed to have been intentionally glued on to a resident's vehicle.

Dog incident

19/09/2026 – Orchid Close: A dog escaped from a property and bit both another dog and its owner on the hand. We remind all pet owners to ensure properties and gates are secure to keep the community safe.

Racial Abuse

17/09/2026 – Public Transport: A third party reported seeing a bus driver subjected to racial abuse by an unknown male passenger. We’ve not heard from the bus company yet. But well done to the witness for coming forward

Theft

17/09/2026 – Coventry Close (approx. 11:20 PM): A male and female suspect entered a front garden and stole a white Carrera bicycle.

23/09/2026 – Sapphire Close & Harper Road: Two catalytic converter thefts took place close to one another on the same day. Catalytic converter thieves target vehicles quickly; if you see anyone acting suspiciously underneath a car, please call Police Immediately.

In Other News

Our team executed a search warrant at a local property this week. Along with cannabis buds, we found a large cannabis plant growing directly out of the floor that measured an incredible 9 feet 8 inches tall. The Tree was cut down and a suspect will be charged of possession and cultivation of cannabis in the near future.

A Quick Note on Neighbouring Areas

There has been a spike in phone snatchings and robberies, particularly around Prince Regent Lane and Freemasons Road. If you are heading down that way, please be extra vigilant and keep your mobile phones securely tucked away out of sight.

Did You Know

The single most valuable street robbery in British history occurred on 2 May 1990, when a courier named John Goddard was mugged at knifepoint on a quiet side street in the City of London.

Goddard was carrying a briefcase containing 301 bearer bonds worth a staggering £291.9 million (equivalent to roughly £720 million today).

The Aftermath: What seemed like a simple street mugging turned out to be a massive international conspiracy involving the New York Mafia and Colombian drug cartels. An operation by the City of London Police and the FBI eventually successfully recovered 299 of the 301 bonds.

The prime suspect for the actual mugging was murdered.
