Community update- Officers join events building stronger communities

Officers came together with local communities across two events recently, aimed at building trust and stronger communities.

On Saturday, September 19, communities across Northampton came together for a Love, Peace and Unity Concert, organised in collaboration with the Centre of Oneness – Nirankari Mission and supported by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The event brought together people of different backgrounds to celebrate the values that unite us and to strengthen the relationships that help make our communities more inclusive.

Through music and conversation, attendees including local Superintendent Rachael Handford, had the opportunity to connect in a welcoming and uplifting environment. The concert showcased the power of partnership and demonstrated how community organisations can work together to create opportunities for understanding and positive engagement.

The spirit of unity continued on Monday, September 21, marking the United Nations International Day of Peace. Deputy Chief Constable Ashley Tuckley was honoured to be invited to accompany a group of faith leaders on a visit to BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (Neasden Temple) in London. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Hindu beliefs, traditions and community life.

Both the concert and the visit to Neasden Temple reflected a shared commitment to promoting peace, understanding and unity. They served as a reminder that bringing people together through events like these and a willingness to embrace diversity helps foster stronger, more connected communities. Also supporting our officers understanding of the diverse communities they serve and how it can impact the policing.
