Operation Rossie Update!

Dear Resident,

We wanted to provide you with an update on the Gorton & Levenshulme Neighbourhood Policing Team's Operation Rossie.

What is Operation Rossie? 

Operation Rossie is a dedicated policing operation focused on tackling crime and anti-social behaviour along and around the Fallowfield Loop.

The operation is designed to keep the area safe for residents, commuters, walkers and cyclists by targeting offences such as:

Our aim is to disrupt criminal activity, prevent offences from taking place, and ensure the Fallowfield Loop remains a safe and welcoming space for everyone.

What is the Gorton & Levenshulme Neighbourhood Policing Team doing? 

To address the concerns raised by local residents and intelligence received by police, officers are:

✅ Increasing high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot locations

✅ Carrying out targeted operations to tackle robbery and knife crime

✅ Deploying plain-clothes officers where appropriate

✅ Using stop and search powers where lawful grounds exist

✅ Proactively targeting known offenders through intelligence-led policing

✅ Conducting operations against the illegal use of electric bikes and off-road motorcycles linked to criminality

✅ Working closely with specialist police units to maximise enforcement opportunities

What results are we achieving? 

Over the last few days, neighbourhood officers have been working alongside specialist units, including Traffic, the Motorcycle Unit, and the Tactical Mounted Unit, to deliver positive results across the area.
