Dear Beam Park Residents, Community Safety Advice – ASB, Vehicle Crime & Burglaries Good Afternoon Residents, As the evenings begin to get darker and daylight hours reduce, this can unfortunately present more opportunities for criminals. We would like to remind everyone to remain vigilant and take simple steps to help protect yourselves, your property, and our community. Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)Report any incidents of nuisance behaviour, disorder, drug activity, or intimidating behaviour to the police.Do not confront individuals involved in ASB yourself.Keep a record of ongoing issues, including dates, times, descriptions, and any evidence such as CCTV or photographs.Report concerns to your housing provider where appropriate.Vehicle Crime PreventionAlways lock your vehicle, even if leaving it unattended for a short period.Remove all valuables from view, including bags, phones, sat navs, and loose change.Ensure keys are kept securely inside your home and away from doors, windows, and letterboxes.Consider using additional security devices such as steering wheel locks, immobilisers, or tracking devices.Park in well-lit areas whenever possible.Check your vehicle is secure before leaving it and report any suspicious persons checking vehicle doors or acting suspiciously around parked vehicles.Burglary PreventionEnsure all doors and windows are locked, even when at home.Leave lights on timers when away from home to give the impression the property is occupied.Keep side gates locked and secure sheds, garages, and outbuildings.Avoid leaving packaging for expensive items on display outside your property.Store valuables out of sight and consider property marking or registering valuables on a recognised property database.Be cautious about sharing holiday plans or lengthy absences on social media.General Crime PreventionReport suspicious activity immediately. If a crime is in progress or there is an immediate threat, call 999.For non-emergency matters, report online or call 101.Ensure any CCTV, doorbell cameras, or security lighting are functioning correctly.Look out for vulnerable neighbours and report any concerns.By working together and remaining vigilant, we can help reduce crime and keep our community safe during the darker months.
