Monthly community update from Ceredigion Roads Policing Sgt Dafydd George – September 2026.

Hello Resident

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share a quick round up of the work that your local Roads Policing Unit have been doing in your area, what's coming up and how we are working with partners to keep our roads safe for those living in, working in and visiting Ceredigion.

From what our communities have told us we have been focusing on:

Road Safety & Speeding Concerns (A487 Aberystwyth to Aberaeron)

Road Safety, Speeding Concerns & Anti-Social Driving (A482 Aberaeron to Lampeter - Including Aberaeron & Lampeter Towns)

Road Safety, Speeding Concerns & Anti-Social Driving (St Dogmaels to Crymych)

To effectively tackle these issues we have been working with colleagues from other departments and partner organisations including:

Ceredigion Neighbourhood Policing & Prevention Team (NPPT)

Ceredigion Response Policing Team

Dyfed Powys Police Rural Crime Team

Ceredigion County Council Road Safety Team

Go Safe / Road Safety Partnership

These collaborations are helping us respond more effectively and holistically to community needs.

As a result, we have:

Conducted a significant number of targeted patrols in the areas of concern you have highlighted to us.

Dealt with in excess of 60 Road Traffic Offences (Focusing on Fatal 5, speeding and anti-social driving among many other offences).

Made 15 arrests for Drink & Drug Driving Offences

Dealt with numerous Road traffic collisions/incidents and provided support to casualties and families involved.

In addition to the above, officers from your local Roads Policing Team have:

Made several proactive arrests in connection with offences of Drug Supply, removing Class A and B drugs from Ceredigion’s streets.

Ensured that the local road network was disrupted as little as possible during the European Rally Championships in Aberystwyth between 3rd and 6th September.

Attended at the RALI ENGAGE event at the Bandstand on Aberystwyth Prom, where we were joined by colleagues from Ceredigion County Council Road Safety Team and other emergency services and partners, for a 3 day engagement event running alongside the rally focusing on Road Safety and young drivers.

Assisted North Wales Police Roads Policing Unit to run a joint operation focusing on Road Safety and Dangerous Vehicles in the north of the County.

Deployed to a high number of incidents in the county requiring the team’s specialist skillset, including road traffic collisions, crimes in progress and high risk and vulnerable missing persons.

This coming month we will continue to target the issues affecting our communities by supporting the following road safety Campaigns:

Operation Spotlight (Fatal 5 Road Traffic Offences).

Operation Apex (Improving Road Safety for Vulnerable Road Users).

Operation Topaz (Targeting the Use of Illegal “Ghost Plates”).

Young Drivers Road Safety Focus.
