With more people relying on home deliveries for shopping.opportunistic thieves are targeting unattended packages left on doorsteps and inside communal areas inside blocks
To help protect your deliveries and reduce the risk of theft, please consider the following advice
Simple Steps to Protect Your Parcels
✅ Track Your Deliveries Use delivery tracking services and estimated delivery times so you know when to expect your parcel.
✅ Use a Safe Place Where possible, provide delivery instructions for parcels to be left in a secure location that is out of sight from the street.
✅ Deliver to a Trusted Neighbour If you are not going to be home, consider arranging for a trusted neighbour, friend, or family member to accept the parcel on your behalf.
✅ Use Collection Points or Lockers Many retailers and delivery companies offer parcel lockers or local collection points as a safer alternative to home delivery.
✅ Install a Video Doorbell or CCTV Visible security devices can act as a deterrent and may provide useful evidence should a theft occur.
✅ Remove Parcels Promptly If a parcel is delivered while you are away, ask someone you trust to collect it as soon as possible.
✅ Be Alert to Suspicious Activity If you notice individuals repeatedly approaching properties or checking for unattended parcels, report any suspicious behaviour to the police using the appropriate reporting channels.
If Your Parcel Has Been Stolen
Contact the delivery company and retailer immediately.
Report the theft to the Metropolitan Police via the 101 or online reporting systems.
Retain any CCTV or video doorbell footage that may assist investigations.
Inform neighbours, as offenders may target multiple properties within the area.
