Homes left looking unoccupied can attract burglars. Taking a few simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk.
💡 Make Your Home Look Occupied
Use timer switches or smart bulbs to turn lights on automatically when you're away or after dark. Milton Keynes are seeing an increase in properties being targeted that are in complete darkness and no cars on the drive.
📹 Install Visible Security Measures
Consider a smart doorbell or CCTV system. Visible security devices can deter potential offenders and may provide valuable evidence if a crime occurs.
🌳 Improve Natural Surveillance
Keep hedges, bushes and trees trimmed around doors, windows and pathways. Overgrown vegetation can provide cover for offenders. Offenders' appear to target detached houses whereby there is easy access over a fence or a public footpath at the back of the address.
🔒 Secure Doors, Windows and Gates
Always lock doors and windows when leaving your property and before going to bed. Don't forget garages, sheds and side gates. Consider an alarm for patio doors.
