As the evenings become darker earlier, we would like to remind residents to take a few simple steps to help protect their homes and belongings from burglary.

Criminals often take advantage of poorly lit areas and properties that appear unoccupied. By making your home look secure and occupied, you can significantly reduce the chances of becoming a victim.

🏠 Crime Prevention Tips:

✅ Ensure all doors and windows are locked, even when you are at home.
✅ Use outdoor security lighting, preferably with motion sensors.
✅ Keep valuables out of sight from windows.
✅ Set timers on internal lights if you are away during the evening.
✅ Make sure side gates and sheds are secured with quality locks.
✅ Consider installing a CCTV system or video doorbell.
✅ Avoid posting holiday or absence plans on social media.
✅ Keep keys away from doors, letterboxes and windows.

If you notice suspicious behaviour such as:

• Individuals looking into vehicles or properties.
• Unknown persons walking around homes or gardens without a legitimate reason.
• Suspicious vehicles repeatedly driving around residential streets.
• Anyone attempting door handles or gates.
