Appeal for witnesses and dashcam following criminal damage in Christchurch

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following a criminal damage incident in Christchurch.

At around 9.25pm on Wednesday 16 September 2026 it was reported that a man threw an e-scooter at a moving vehicle on the Christchurch bypass.

Damage was caused to the vehicle – a green Volkswagen Beetle – and the e-scooter.

The man was described as white, of average build, wearing a tan-coloured balaclava and ran off in the direction of the town centre.

Police Constable James Senior, of Dorset Police, said: “Thankfully, the driver of the car was not injured in the incident.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen the incident or a man matching the description in the area to please get in touch.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who was travelling along the bypass with a dashcam fitted and may have captured the man before or after the incident.”
