September 21st is Armenia Independence Day.
Armenia gained its Independence in 1991 when it voted in a referendum to leave the Soviet Union - which it had been part of for over 70 years.
The Armenian diaspora in London is put at about 12,000 people - however if you include those who are ethnically Armenian but were born in countries such as Iran, Lebanon and Iraq, the number is much higher.
