Staffordshire Police remains committed to making our communities safer for women and girls. Violence, abuse, harassment, stalking and sexual offences have a devastating impact on victims, their families and our communities, and tackling these crimes continues to be a key policing priority.

Nationally, the Government has set an ambition to halve violence against women and girls within the next decade through a whole-of-society approach focused on prevention, pursuing offenders and supporting victims. Freedom from violence and abuse: a cross-government strategy highlights the importance of working together across policing, education, health services and local communities to create lasting change. 

Recent legislation has strengthened the tools available to police and criminal justice partners to better protect victims. The Crime and Policing Act 2026 introduces enhanced measures to tackle stalking, including extending the use of Stalking Protection Orders and enabling courts to impose protections following conviction or, in some circumstances, acquittal where risks remain. The Act also supports greater information sharing and multi-agency approaches to safeguarding victims. 

The legislation also modernises offences involving the administration of harmful substances, including so-called "spiking", helping ensure offenders can be brought to justice and increasing public confidence in reporting these crimes. 

Locally, Staffordshire Police continues to:

✅ Target offenders who pose a risk to women and girls.
✅ Work closely with partner agencies to safeguard victims and vulnerable people.
✅ Tackle stalking, harassment, domestic abuse and sexual offending.
✅ Encourage reporting and support victims through the criminal justice process.
✅ Educate communities and promote personal safety awareness.
