I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road safety issues (Speeding), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. 🚦 Community Speedwatch – Making Roads Safer
Kent Police runs Community Speedwatch, a volunteer-led initiative focused on reducing speeding and improving safety. What is Speedwatch?
👥 Local volunteers, trained by Kent Police, monitor speeds at approved sites (20, 30, or 40 mph zones) using certified equipment.
📋 Details of speeding vehicles are securely logged for 12 months. Repeat or excessive offenders may receive advisory letters—and in some cases, personal visits from officers. Important:
Speedwatch is educational, not enforcement. No fines or penalty points are issued directly, but the data helps target police action and inform road safety improvements. ✅ Does it work?
Yes! Over 90% of drivers recorded speeding once are not seen again within 12 months, and overall speeding reduces in communities over time. 📍 Want to help?

👉 www.kent.police.uk/speedwatch On Friday 18 September, PC Wilson and PC Watson carried out proactive speed enforcement checks along the A25 through Sundridge and Brasted, as well as Croydon Road, Westerham.
During the operation, a number of drivers were stopped and spoken to regarding their speed and general road safety. These engagements provided an opportunity to educate motorists on the dangers of excessive speed and the impact it can have on all road users, including pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists.
Speeding remains one of the key factors in serious road traffic collisions. By carrying out these checks, officers aim to improve road safety, reduce the risk of collisions and address concerns raised by members of the local community.
If you have concerns about speeding or other anti-social driving in your area, please report it to Kent Police. Please do not rely solely on posting incidents on social media, as officers may not see them. Reports made directly to police help us build an intelligence picture and identify locations where enforcement activity is needed.
