Highgate Weekly Update: Joint Patrols, Crime Prevention and Priority Day of Action Results

Dear Highgate Residents,

I would like to share an update on the work your local policing team has been carrying out over the past week. On Thursday 17 September 2026, we conducted joint patrols alongside Camden Council's Community Safety Officer, carrying out visits to addresses that had been identified as causing concern within the community. Some of you may have seen us out and about on the Holly Lodge Estate throughout the day. These joint patrols are important as they allow police and partner agencies to work together to address anti-social behaviour, safeguard vulnerable residents, and tackle issues affecting the community before they escalate.

On Friday 18 September 2026, we held a successful bike marking event as part of our day of action for theft, helping residents protect their bicycles and reduce the risk of theft. Many of you will already have received details about how the event went. Bike marking is a simple but effective crime prevention measure, making bicycles more difficult for offenders to sell and increasing the chances of stolen property being returned to its rightful owner if recovered.

On Saturday 19 September 2026, we focused on tackling drug-related activity which is also our Priority. This is driven by the concerns raised to us by local residents. We were joined by officers from the Kentish Town North and South Safer Neighbourhood Teams, allowing us to increase our visibility and carry out proactive patrols and drug sweeps around the Whittington Estate and surrounding areas. As a result of this operation, one individual was arrested for breaching the conditions of their electronic tag and for possession of Class C cannabis.

These operations are incredibly important in helping us address the issues that matter most to residents. Drug-related activity can often be linked to anti-social behaviour, crime, exploitation, and an increased fear of crime within the community. By carrying out high-visibility patrols, acting on local intelligence, and taking positive enforcement action where offences are identified, we are disrupting criminal activity, reducing opportunities for offending, and making our neighbourhoods safer. Working closely with neighbouring teams and our local partners also allows us to maximise resources and achieve greater impact across the ward. We remain committed to tackling the concerns that residents raise with us and improving the quality of life for everyone who lives, works, and visits Highgate.
