Knightsbridge and Belgravia Cycle Action Day- 15th September

The latest Knightsbridge and Belgravia Cycle Action Day proved to be another great success, thanks to the continued partnership between the Knightsbridge and Belgravia policing team and Ward Councillors, Cllr Hitchcock and Cllr Robathan.

While the police were busy reminding cyclists that red lights are not merely "friendly suggestions" and pavements are not cycle lanes, councillors focused their efforts on tackling the ever-growing challenge of hire bike dumping across the Ward. 

The operation was supported by representatives from Lime and Forest, alongside Westminster City Council's Kerbside Team. Elizabeth Street became a hub for constructive conversations, giving local residents and businesses the chance to speak directly with the operators, highlight problem locations and point out the places where hire bikes seem determined to gather in larger numbers.

The Knightsbridge and Belgravia Police Team was joined by colleagues from Lancaster Gate, St James's, Pimlico South and Pimlico North wards. Together, officers engaged with cyclists, provided road safety advice and issued 56 tickets during the day.

Police activity focused on known hotspot locations including Lowndes Square, Albert Gate and Exhibition Road, helping to improve safety for all road users and reinforce the message that cycling responsibly is considerably cheaper than receiving a ticket.

The action day showcased the benefits of partnership working between local police, Councillors, Westminster City Council and hire bike operators, helping to improve road safety, address community concerns and strengthen engagement with residents and businesses across the area.
