🚨Parents- Do you know what your children are doing when out with their friends? 🚨

The Safer Neighbourhood Team are getting an increase in reports of youths exploring abandoned buildings in the area. Tiktok videos have been shared showing youths “urban exploring” multiple properties. While "urban exploring" may seem exciting, these locations can pose serious risks, including:

⚠️ Unstable floors, roofs and staircases
⚠️ Hidden holes, broken glass and sharp objects
⚠️ Exposure to hazardous materials such as asbestos
⚠️ Risk of falling from height
⚠️ Fire hazards and unsafe structures
⚠️ Potential encounters with criminal activity or anti-social behaviour

Many abandoned buildings are privately owned, and entering without permission could also amount to trespassing or other offences.

Please consider talking to your children about the risks and dangers exploring these building can pose.
