Monthly Community Update from Sgt Stopher-Murray

I hope this message finds you well. As we move through September I wanted to share a quick round-up of what’s been happening across our local area, what’s coming up, and how we’re working together to keep our community safe and thriving.

🔍 Local Priorities

Our current focus areas include:

Speeding, anti-social behaviour (ASB) and loud exhausts

Homelessness and begging in Stourbridge High Street

We are continuing patrols and targeted operations in relation to speeding and loud exhausts in and around the ring road. We have issued several Section 59 notices, reported vehicles for breaches of Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) requirements, and carried out speed operations around the ring road, resulting in drivers being reported for traffic offences.

We continue to address ongoing issues at the Mill Race Lane car parks, while multi-agency work is also underway to secure speed camears on the ring road.

We also continue to issue Community Protection Notices (CPNs) to individuals who are begging or rough sleeping in Stourbridge, alongside referral pathways and appropriate support where required.

We are aware the several members of the community are concerned about activities in Stourbridge town centre in the late evening. We have been and will continue to increase visibility in the town centre to make our communities feel safer.

🤝 Partnership Working

We’ve been working closely with:

On the 2nd September a joint operation was conducted with trading standards. Warrants executed at 7 commercial & residential properties addressed in Lye. A Significant amount of illegal tobacco was seized from several of these properties.

On the 4th September officers from Stourbridge NHT and the DVLA were in Lye and the wider area seizing untaxed vehicles

🗞️ Round-Up from All Wards

Here’s a snapshot of key updates across our patch:

On the 20th and 30th August West Midlands Police horses Bella, Wendy and Carter came to Stourbridge town centre, Mary Stevens park and surrounding roads to engage with the community

Where possible the team have dopped into summer events and fetes including Mary Stevens Hospice summer fayre

Over the summer have made numerous arrests for thefts, Assault, criminal damage, exposure

We have acted on intelligence received regard illegal fishing in heath pool, Norton. All offenders were caught and will be dealt with appropriately.

We have increased patrols in the high street, Stourbridge enforcing parking issues you have highlighted to us
