MAN JAILED FOR DRUGS OFFENCES

A man has been jailed after officers found drugs hidden in his car at a fast food outlet in Tamworth.

Vladmir Leskaj, aged 59, was handed a three-year prison term at Stafford Crown Court on Tuesday (15 September) after admitting possession with intent to supply class A drugs, cocaine.

Officers were on patrol in the Watling Street area at around 1pm in April when they spotted Leskaj in his Fiat 500.

A search of the vehicle revealed cocaine concealed in the handbrake, phones and a quantity of cash.

Leskaj, who was already on a suspended sentence for production of cannabis offences, was later charged and admitted the class A offence in court.

As a result of his previous one-year-and-three-month suspended sentence, Leskaj was ordered to serve a further one-year-and-nine-month consecutive prison term, while the drugs, phones and cash were ordered to be forfeited.

Speaking following sentencing, Detective Superintendent Victoria Downing, of our Major and Organised Crime Unit, said: “Leskaj was brazen in his drug supply activities, with officers finding cocaine in his car while he was parked at a fast food outlet in the middle of the day.

“I am pleased he has had his previously suspended sentence for similar offences activated by the court and that he will serve a significant amount of time behind bars.”
