Shop theft in Norwich is an issue we regularly share updates about and one which we continue to tackle. Yesterday morning (16 September), Chief Constable Paul Sanford appeared on BBC Radio Norfolk, where he discussed the impact of shop theft on local businesses and the challenges around repeat offending and sentences. He also highlighted Norfolk Police's proactive approach to identifying offenders and working with retailers to combat theft.
Here in Norwich, we work closely with retailers across the city to tackle shop theft. Through the Alert Disc app, officers can communicate directly with businesses, sharing real-time information that helps identify and target repeat offenders.
Just this week, we charged a 32-year-old man in connection with four counts of shop theft. We have also charged a 26-year-old woman in connection with shop theft and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order . In addition, two other men have been charged with shop theft following reports of a pair of glasses and mobile phones being stolen. |
