Westcotes Neighbourhood Policing Team – Weekly Update 

Dear residents,

We wanted to provide you with a brief update on some of the activity and enforcement carried out by your Westcotes Neighbourhood Policing Team over the past week.

Our officers have been carrying out proactive patrols across the beat, responding to incidents and taking action where offences have been identified.

Arrests and enforcement

• Officers have made two arrests while out on patrol in the Westcotes area.

• Officers have also seized e-bikes as part of ongoing enforcement activity. We will continue to take action where e-bikes are being used unlawfully or are linked to offending.

• A male was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. Enquiries are ongoing.

Shop theft and wanted person

Officers witnessed a male attempting to steal from a local shop while they were on patrol.

Further enquiries were carried out, which established that the male was also wanted in connection with several other offences. Officers arrested the male, and enquiries are continuing.

Vehicle enforcement

A vehicle was identified which had not had valid tax since June and did not have a current MOT. The vehicle was subsequently seized under DVLA powers.

On another occasion, officers stopped a vehicle after it was seen being driven the wrong way along a one-way street.

Checks carried out by officers established that the vehicle was not insured and that the driver did not hold a valid driving licence. Appropriate enforcement action was taken.

These incidents form part of our ongoing work to tackle crime, road safety issues and other concerns within the Westcotes area.

We will continue to provide visible and proactive policing across the beat, while working with residents, local businesses and partner agencies to address the issues that matter most to our community.
