Community Safety Warning

Dear Residents,

I would like to make you aware of a recent attempted theft that occurred in the Waldegrave Gardens area.

At approximately 4:35pm, an elderly woman was approached by a female who engaged her in conversation, claiming to be looking for cleaning work. After a short conversation, the suspect unexpectedly returned and attempted to hug and kiss the victim. During this distraction, the suspect appears to have tried to remove the victim's gold necklace by undoing the clasp.

Fortunately, the victim realised something was wrong, told the suspect to let go, and the suspect ran away.

Please remain vigilant when approached by strangers, particularly if they attempt to invade your personal space or distract you. Take extra care with jewellery and other valuables when out and about.
