STOP means STOP school engagement event |
||
|
Dear STAMFORD HILL WEST residents,
Our local Community Protection Officers from Safer Neighbourhoods Team recently joined forces with the local authority School Crossing Patrol team for a road safety event at Holmleigh Primary School. The "Stop means Stop" event was all about helping children stay safe on and around our roads. Officers together with crossing patrol staff engaged with pupils, shared practical road-safety advice, handed out educational materials and, most important, listened to the children’s own concerns and ideas.
And they had plenty of ideas! From reminding drivers to slow down and stop for people crossing, to looking both ways and staying alert, the pupils showed they already know a thing or two about keeping roads safe. There was also an opportunity for children to leave their own safety messages for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers and School Crossing Patrol Team.
A big thank you to Holmleigh Primary School, the School Crossing Patrol Team and everyone who took part. Our message for drivers remain simple: when sign says STOP, it really does mean STOP – it isn’t a suggestion, and there are no bonus points for getting through first! Working together with schools, families and our partners helps make the roads around our school s safer for everyone. Please SLOW DOWN, STAY ALERT and help us keep our young road users SAFE.
