cash point skimming device |
||
|
Earlier today a cash-point skimming device was located at a Halifax cash-point in Westgate Street, Gloucester. The device has been seized by police and will be forensically examined in due course. If you are not sure what a skimming device is it is an illegal, hidden attachment fitted over an ATM's legitimate card slot. It is meticulously engineered to match the colour, texture, and shape of the cash machine to steal your bank card data without your knowledge. When your card is inserted the skimmer reads and records the information stored on the cards magnetic strip. Signs that a device is present could be a bulky or misaligned card slot, Loose or wobbly parts, Thick or spongy keypad or hidden pinhole cameras. Please be extra vigilant when withdrawing money from cash points and please report anything suspicious to police. | ||
