Three Males Charged Following Proactive Stop and Search on Westwood Lane

Three males have been charged following a proactive stop and search carried out by officers from the Blendon & Penhill and Falconwood & Welling Safer Neighbourhood Teams.

Shortly before midnight on Friday 11 September, officers stopped a vehicle on Westwood Lane as part of ongoing efforts to tackle crime and keep local communities safe. Three males were found inside the vehicle, and officers subsequently carried out searches of both the occupants and the vehicle.

During the search, officers recovered two lock knives and a quantity of nitrous oxide canisters. The discovery led to the immediate arrest of all three males on suspicion of possession of offensive weapons and possession of a Class C drug.

The suspects were taken into custody, where officers continued their investigation. Following enquiries, all three males have now been charged.

The arrests highlight the importance of proactive policing and the continued commitment of local Safer Neighbourhood Teams to removing weapons and illegal substances from the streets, helping to protect residents and reduce crime across the wards.
