Looking after our shared community spaces

During my patrol of Cheadle today, I visited the newly built pump track on Churchill Road and wanted to take the opportunity to remind everyone about the importance of respecting our community facilities and following the signage provided.

The pump track and surrounding areas are still very new, with the grass and ground only just becoming established. The signage clearly asks that dogs are not taken onto the pump track.

Allowing dogs to run across the track and its banked areas can damage the newly established ground, carry mud onto the track and create additional cleaning and maintenance issues. There is also the obvious importance of keeping an area used by children clean and safe.

It is sometimes easy to think of anti-social behaviour as something primarily associated with young people. The reality is that inconsiderate or anti-social behaviour can involve people of any age.

Whether you’re a young person using the pump track, a parent with children, a dog walker or simply enjoying our local open spaces, we all have a part to play in looking after them.

These facilities have been provided for the whole community. Please follow the signage, respect the facilities and consider how your actions might affect other people who want to enjoy them.

As a neighbourhood PCSO, I will continue to patrol Cheadle and engage with residents wherever possible. I always try to approach people positively, fairly and professionally, and I’m grateful that the vast majority of interactions I have with members of our community are friendly and constructive.

Let’s all do our bit to keep Cheadle’s community facilities clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone.
