Two men remanded following murder charges |

|
Two men have been remanded into custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of Jamie Evans in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Corey Hughes, 20, and Connor Edward Cartlidge, 22, both of Newcastle-under-Lyme, appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court today after they were charged on Monday evening (7 September). Hughes has been charged with murder and possession of a knife in a public place and Cartlidge has been charged with murder. Hughes and Cartlidge are next due to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on 13 November 2026. A 38-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has now also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has been released on conditional bail while our enquiries continue.
