JOINT BIKE OPERATION, LOWNDES SQUARE 📍 📅 Date: 15 September Time: 08:30 AM
Your local police team will be conducting a joint bike operation starting at Lowndes Square on 15 September at 8:30AM, working in partnership with Councillor Hitchcock and Councillor Robathan.
This operation has been organised in response to ongoing concerns raised by local residents and businesses regarding the dumping, obstruction, and misuse of shared bicycles in the area. The initiative aims to promote responsible use of rental bikes, educate cyclists on the Highway Code, road safety and ensure pathways remain safe and accessible.
We are working together with TfL, Lime, Forest, Kerbside and other partners to address concerns around the inappropriate parking and dumping of hire bikes, which can cause obstruction and impact local residents and pedestrians. Bike operators will work alongside police and Ward Councillors to address issues directly and support long-term improvements.
There will be around 20 police officers in hot spot areas issuing tickets to cyclists for various offences and will focus on education and enforcement. Ensuring riders understand the importance of safe cycling and the impact that committing offences has on pedestrians and other road users.
Come and meet your local police team and our partner agencies! This is a great opportunity to speak with us and find out more about the work being done to tackle bike-related issues locally.
We look forward to seeing you there! 👮🤝
