You’re invited to a Hate Crime Awareness Day

Dear Resident,

Do you want to find out more about hate crime, the support available to victims and the work taking place to tackle it? 

Hate crime is any crime that is targeted against a person because of their disability, race, religion, sexual orientation or transgender identity.

While Hertfordshire is generally a safe place to live and work, sadly, like in many other areas, incidents of hate crime do happen. 

This type of crime can have a massive impact on individuals and communities, leaving them feeling unsafe or scared to go about their normal lives. 

There is a lot of work taking place to support victims and bring offenders to justice, with dedicated police Hate Crime Officers and third-party reporting centres on hand to help.

We’re working with partners, including Hertfordshire County Council, the Crown Prosecution Service and Herts Beacon, who support victims, to host a Hate Crime Awareness Day.

The free event is taking place on Tuesday 13 October, during national Hate Crime Awareness Week (10 to 17 October).
